Ready to Build!

Since 2007, ChAngels has been dedicated to effecting change in our community through small, hand-on projects. Now, we are ready to take on a BIG hand-on project by partnering with buildOn to fight the global education crisis.  

In the US a student drops out of high school every 26 seconds. Domestically, buildOn works with US high school students to break this cycle through service and education. Globally, builOn has built over 600 schools in seven countries, bringing hope and education to some of the poorest countries on the planet. Over  57 million children do not have access to a classroom and almost 800 million citizens are illiterate.

ChAngels is proud to join the Bay Area chapter and join with other buildOn students and volunteers to bring education and hope to boys and girls, women and men in a developing country by building a school. We are raising the funds to bring a school to a village in either Haiti or Nicaragua* We love that a village must meet strict criteria, establish a governing council of equal number of men and women, and agree to educate an equal number of girls and boys.  Each village takes part in the building of the school and takes responsibility for the operation of each school and the building is used in the evening to promote adult literacy.

We all are priviledged with the education we have and will continue to receive and we are excited to bring this gift to those who would not have an opportunity to even begin grade school. We will continue our efforts in our local community-but are inspired by the impact this gift of a school can bring.  We hope you will join our efforts by making a tax-deductible donation of ANY size to our school fund and sharing our project with anyone who might be interested.
